Flashlights solutions to help in the dark

Finding yourself in the dark isn’t fun, especially if you are alone. If you’re out at night and you have a flat tire you will need to see to change the tire. If the electricity goes out in your home because of a bad storm, you will need a Flashlight to see until the utility company gets it fixed. Both of the situations would call for a dependable flashlight.

Have you ever thought about the name, flashlight? About 120 years ago when the flashlight was invented, it did not have an on and off switch on it so you had to flash it on and off, and this is how it got its name.

If you need a flashlight, one of the best is a LED flashlight. It is more efficient than some of the other types and the LED light bulbs outlast the incandescent bulbs and can last up to 100,000 hours. First, you need to know how you will use the flashlight even if you have to pay a higher cost. You want to get the best value for your money when it comes to your family.

Today’s Flashlights come in different types, depending on your need. Listed below are some of the different types of flashlights available.

  • Tube – These flashlights were the first to hit the markets. They are battery powered and are cylindrical in shape and can vary in power as well as length, weight, and size.
  • Pocket – These smaller flashlights will fit on the end of a key chain or a pocket or purse. They are very inexpensive and their size makes them very transportable. Of course with these you won’t get as much power as you will with the other ones so they are not recommended for big jobs.
  • Dive – These have been designed for divers and to go under water. The lights are usually made of waterproof materials such as metal or hard plastic. They are great for rescue divers, deep sea divers, or scuba divers because they help to see better under water.
  • Tactical – These are the ones that are used by the police, emergency, and our military and have high power. They can temporarily blind a person so they are also of good use in self-defense situations. They are compact but not too small, can be held in one hand and are very durable.
  • Shake – This is a new version of the older models and does not use batteries. It uses a LED light source and you just shake it for about 30 seconds to charge the ultra capacitor inside. When the light starts to grow dim you give it another shake. For a few minutes, the flashlight shines before you have to shake again and they are inexpensive.
  • Headlamps – With these, you strap them around you head or on a helmet. You won’t need to hold these so you can be hands-free and would be perfect for construction workers, spelunkers, miners, and not to mention the people that like to BBQ at night or at a camp site.

A rechargeable flashlight lets you remove the batteries and lets you replace it with a freshly charged one, when you have at least two batteries. For the charger just plug it in AC outlet and let it charge. This way you can reuse your batteries and save money. You can buy these in a kit that comes with two batteries and a charger or you can just buy the charger separately.

Some of the rechargeable flashlights are designed for power outages and are left plugged into an AC outlet, and then when you have a power outage they will automatically turn on. These can be used as a nightlight. Rechargeable units are sold at any local retail store or online and are well worth their money.
