Crochet bauble tutorial is ready!

I was meant to be having a day of frenzied housework today but decided to work on a Crochet Bauble Tutorial instead. Making a crochet bauble is a lot more fun than hoovering, dusting and mopping floors… Its also been quite a while since I did a full crochet tutorial on my blog and I wanted this to add to the little series I’ve been doing on baubles.

The first post was a quick review of some of my favourite crochet bauble patterns and you can read it here.

The second was all about using oddments of yarn within a colour scheme to produce colour coordinated crochet baubles using Stylecraft Special DK. You can read that one here.

Today, I’ve published the full tutorial to show how I made my bauble covers using the start of my Blandala circular crochet blanket pattern. This is a really easy way to make crochet baubles but if you want something a bit more complex, check out the other patterns I found.

About the crochet bauble tutorial

I have gone a bit to town on this but I wanted to try to do a really detailed photo tutorial so that someone fairly new to crochet could follow along and make some baubles.

The idea is to make two circles and then adding a couple of rounds without increases so that the two discs form shallow cups. Two can be sewn together to cover an old bauble (or one rescued from a charity shop) to give it a whole new lease of life.

The tutorial post includes a written pattern so that you can refer to this when you don’t need the full tutorial any more, and it has suggestions for how to make crochet bauble covers in different sizes. At the end of the tutorial, there is also a really detailed explanation of how to do the seaming.
