Recently my husband brought home a few balls of Yarn. He has a shopping problem; an addiction, really. Anytime he sees something he thinks I might like, he brings it home. Trail Mix was thrilled. She thinks this yarn is all for her. I'm still trying to find a place to store it all.
After studying and doing a little research, I concluded that most of the yarn is cotton, mainly intended for Weaving. It could also be used for crochet, primitive stitching, and a few other things, too. I've never done any weaving and didn't intend to until I came across this cute beginning weaving kit while browsing the craft section at Wal-Mart. This kit is made by Bucilla, and was only $15.00, if you're interested in trying one, too.
So far I have learned how to set up the warp (the vertical threads), do a basic plain stitch, the twill stitch, and how to change yarn colors.
I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed weaving! It's fun and relaxing. This is how my practice/learning piece is looking so far. Next I'm going to learn how to tie Rya Knots, which look like a tassel fringe kind of thing.
