Anti-aging Vitamin B3 Supplement Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride Explained

The cells in our bodies use a chemical called (NAD) Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide. It is a coenzyme important for metabolism in our cells. It also has an important function in mitochondrial metabolism, DNA repair and DNA integrity.

NAD is produced in our bodies primarily by eating Niacin and protein from dairy and meats called tryptophan. Through a series of processes, our bodies convert Niacin and tryptophan into NAD.

Without Vitamin B3 in our diet, we would all suffer from a fatal disease called Pellegra, which causes mouth sores, diarrhea, dementia, and eventual death. In the past, people suffered from Pellegra when their diet was limited to a corn based diet.

Today, we get adequate amounts of Vitamin B3 so that Pellegra is no longer a danger to our health. However, the levels of NAD in our body decreases dramatically as we age.

As we age, NAD levels in our bodies decrease. By the time we are middle age, the level of NAD in our bodies is halved.  Decrease in NAD levels in our body causes symptoms of aging. Lower NAD levels causes mitochondrial dysfunction and decreases in the compound PARP1 which is responsible for DNA repair.

Niacin and Dairy and Meat to Increase My Declining NAD Levels?

The protein tryptophan is converted into NAD through a complicated 8 stage chemical process in our body. We would have to eat far too much meat and dairy to increase the NAD in our bodies.

Niacin and Nicotinamide Riboside are NAD precursors which means that the chemical process is simple compared to tryptophan. However, eating large quantities of Niacin has serious side affects. It causes the skin around the face and neck to flush with a burning sensation and stomach upset. Worse yet is the liver and intestinal damage from too much Niacin.

Increasing our NAD Levels with Nicotinamide Riboside

Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride is a version of Vitamin B3 developed by a Harvard scientist. It is stable form of NR and does not have the negative side affects as Niacin.
  • Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride is safe, even in high dosages
  • NAD supplementation with Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride increases the NAD levels in our bodies.
  • Research with mice has indicated that increased NAD levels reverses Alzheimers and heart diseases and diabetes.
