Exciting news! Aurifil comes to India!

I have some exciting news to share!

Today is Gudhi Padwa! The beginning of the Hindu new year! In India we have another reason to celebrate this wonderful festival!!! Aurifil, the beautiful, delicious, smooth, luscious and brilliant brand of threads has come to India!

Today marks the beginning of a new step in my relationship with the Italian thread company as I join them as a seller for INDIA! Oh yes! You heard it right! I will be selling these strands of made-in-Italy-with-Egyptian-cotton-grown-on-the-river-Nile threads in India!!!

I have been using these threads since I was first sent a box of goodies by Alex Veronelli, the brand jedi of Aurifil, to share! He had no idea how difficult it was to give these little spools away! I wanted to keep them all for myself! But give away, I did!

The first thing I noticed about these was they were so smooth! And even though they were cotton they had a wonderful sheen to them. I have sued them for over four years now and never have I been let down by EVEN ONE SPOOL! Plus they are PURE COTTON and that means when you iron the quilt, they do not burn at temperatures suitable for the fabric! Also, they do not bleed colours like the Indian threads do! There are so many reasons to love them!

When I wrote my eBook - ABOUT face  - which was about making a portrait quilt in the WORLD'S FASTEST METHOD - the wonderful Alex agreed to be the 'subject' ! And my relationship with Aurifil went up a notch! I cannot seriously tell you enough of how the customer service at Aurifil is like!

Wherever I taught I took some spools along and had competitions where people could win these. The one question I got back was "Do you sell these?" or "Where can I buy them?" I felt sad to tell them that they would have to order online (which meant outrageous shipping) and they would normally never order any.

These are EXPENSIVE threads that we are talking about. Normally the spools that we get in India costs somewhere between Rs. 2 to Rs. 5. The most expensive spool I have come across is for Rs 40.  Aurifil (in Indian currency) is going to cost them Rs 700! I could see they were ready to pay, but ordering online would take the cost to Rs 1000 for a spool (people could buy 500 local spools for that price).

Making these spools available to quilters and sewists in India is such a wonderful feeling! I hope everyone enjoys a more pleasurable sewing experience!
