Hello there! I’m Lydi from Lydi Out Loud and I’m about to get giddy on The Crafting Chicks today because I loooove DIY beauty products! I recently made some fun DIY Bath Bomb Easter eggs over on my blog that were a hit so I decided that these Diy Bath Bomb cupcakes would be perfect for Mother’s Day, shower favors or hostess gifts!
DIY Bath Bomb Cupcakes Gift Idea
Supplies
Makes 12 cupcakes
- 1 cup baking soda
- ½ cup citric acid
- ½ cup corn starch
- ½ cup epsom salt
- 2 tablespoons fractionated coconut oil
- Essential oils (I used lavender, Serenity blend, lemon and peppermint, find other scent combos here)
- Water in a spray bottle
- Food coloring
- Decorative silicone cupcake liners
Directions
- Add all dry ingredients to a large bowl and whisk together.
- Very slowly add coconut oil to the dry mixture, whisking immediately. Be sure not to add any wet ingredients all at once or it will start to fizz like an alka-seltzer.
- Separate the mixture into however many colors and/or scents you would like to make.
- Mix essential oil and food coloring together and add a little bit at a time and mix well, doing one color at a time to prevent the mixture from drying up while you work on the other colors. If using pure essential oil, add just one drop to each bowl; otherwise use 3 – 4 drops. I love DoTerra oils, you will need very little if you use those.
- Spray mixture with 1 spritz of water at a time in order to mix in very quickly. Continue to spray until the mixture is the consistency of wet sand.
- Place cupcake liners in a muffin pan to help the DIY bath bombs keep their shape. Overfill the cupcake liners with the mixture and pack it in by pressing the top with the bottom of a small measuring cup.
- Place in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, then your DIY bath bomb cupcakes are ready to go! Placing a DIY bath bomb cupcake on a cupcake stand makes a perfect gift presentation.
I don’t know about you, but I doubt that as a kid I was very “relaxing” to my mom! These are a wonderful gift to treat mom to some relaxation and aromatherapy (to make up for all of those early years! 😉
