Does Noom Really Work?

*A big thanks to our friends at Noom for sponsoring this post. All personal experiences and opinions are our own.

While on a rigorous 9-day trip through Italy in 2018, I was worried if my husband’s parents would be able to keep up. The pace was fast and we walked our way through Rome, Florence, and Venice clocking in over 20,000 steps per day and taking in the Colosseum, Michelangelo’s David, and the sights along the Grand Canal. There was so much to do and see that we were up with the sun and didn’t hit the pillow until well after sunset. My in-laws did phenomenally, although I could tell that my optimistic itinerary was tiring. They were troopers and the trip ended up being an unforgettable experience we’ll all tuck away as something very special.

I was looking back at photos of that trip recently and noticed one huge change–my mother in law has since lost over 40 pounds! She looks amazing and given the opportunity to traipse through Italy again, it will be a breeze for her. How’d she do it? It’s a pretty great story.

Does Noom Really Work?

After our trip, life got busy and it seemed we were all hitting our strides when 2020 brought our world to a screeching halt. Now, instead of planning a return trip to Italy, we pressed pause on life, not sure when we’d ever hit play again. During this time of quarantine, my mother-in-law decided to tackle something she could actually control in life: her weight.

Going to the gym wasn’t an option, nor was hiring a personal trainer. Instead, Penny got creative and turned to Noom.

Noom really does use psychology to help you lose weight.

No, there is no hypnosis or therapy involved; what Noom does is changes your mindset toward Food and helps you realize good, better, best options that help you not only lose weight, but keep it off forever.

If you’re sick of detox teas, meal replacement shakes, and total elimination of food groups, Noom is definitely for you. The way to lose weight and actually keep it off forever is to change your mindset. The thing that makes Noom different from any other program out there is that it is a research-backed health program that allows you to alter your eating habits without feeling like you’re starving or depriving yourself. Over 80% of Noom users have lost weight following the program, and even celebrate non-scale victories, like preventing chronic diseases and gaining confidence. With the help of coaches and other Noom users, you’ll have the support you need to start your weight loss journey.

Real Life Member Q&A

Can you explain a little bit how Noom works? Sure, there’s not a lot on their website about how Noom actually works, so it’s helpful to know a few things.

The best thing about Noom for me was that there are mini-lessons every day with questions that help you learn and internalize positive thought processes and ways to deal with food and a healthy understanding with food.

There is an accountability portion by logging in the foods you eat.

You have a personal expert that texts you daily to see how things are going and group support through chats. That kind of friendly accountability is very helpful.

Noom also offers recipes and fitness tracking options that are great tools.

How is Noom different from other things you’ve tried?

The biggest thing is the daily lessons and accountability. The lessons don’t take long. Maybe 10 or 15 minutes at the most. Helps me internalize positive thoughts about food and about myself. Helps me in social situations where food is involved as well.

How user-friendly is Noom?

Very. Signing up is easy and done all online. The lessons are there for me daily and one of my favorite features is how easy it is to log every type of food you can imagine (even restaurant meals). Noom has the best food tracker I’ve encountered.

Would you recommend Noom to a friend? Why or why not?

Absolutely. And I have recommended it many times.

Ready to lose weight for good? You go, girl!

Whether you want to lose weight or just get fit and stay fit for good, Noom is an excellent option that we’d recommend to anyone. I’ve witnessed with my own eyes the complete transformation my mother-in-law went through and it is inspiring. Noom kickstarted her 30-pound weight loss and she’s kept going, losing 40 pounds in all.  She looks amazing, but best yet, she feels amazing.

Now we’re ready to tackle Italy round two!

If you’re ready to keep the weight off for good, go check out Noom and see if it’s a good fit for you.
