Felt Puzzles for a Little Girl

I'm in a blogging mood today. Can't believe I made my last post in July. That's 5 months ago! I seem to lose track of time whenever I'm with ABC :) They are my daily dose of happiness and frustrations, can't seem to have one without the other, LOL. A love and hate relationship...

Last month I was invited to Little C's picnic birthday party. I haven't taken the boys out on a picnic before. I cannot imagine letting 3 boys run lose in the park with just the 2 of us to catch them. But I couldn't resist PH's invitation, and she assured me that it was only a small affair, and all the parents will be a lookout for each other :)

And so I set on a mission to make my own DIY picnic blanket, but I'll share that in another post. Then I handmade a gift for Little C. She was turning 3 years old. Her party was a pirate/sea theme, so searched online for some gift ideas and found this felt puzzle idea at MommySavers. What an awesome idea! I thought that I could make one set for Little C now and some for ABC later.

It was really quick, and I had all the felt I needed. I simply did a free hand cutting, and stick all of the felt together using some craft glue, then equally divided the finished felt piece into 9 and cut it up. Here's the finished result.

I was planning to make a felt eye for the fish but then realise that a googly eye look much better!

I sewed a simple drawstring bag using unbleached calico, then using fabric markers, drew a pirate ship with her initial on it before adding a distressed carton tag with Happy Birthday stamped on it. Arrgh...unfortunately in all that excitement I forgot to take a photo of it before giving it to her. I felt that the little calico pouch was the perfect way to store those little puzzle pieces.

I hope she will like it!
