A Caravan of about 400 immigrants has reached the Mexican-American Border city of Tijuana in attempt to seek asylum in the United States. This is different than what is considered the norm at this border. The people in this caravan have fled their countries in Central America because they fear for their lives and well being, different than the more common Mexican undocumented migrant who attempts to cross into the United States for work. These immigrants have been warned that some may be turned back or at least take a very long time to finally allow them to cross the border into the U.S., as well as families being separated. Even with these extreme downfalls, the caravan continues to find hope, waiting in Tijuana for the American government to process and provide asylum to those who are willing to risk everything to find safety in the U.S..
Do our latino celebrities and people of power have a responsiblity to do something about this? What can be done to help these people successfully reach asylum? How is the current Trump administration affecting this?
