Life expectancy for Hispanics is 3.3 Years Longer than that of non-Hispanic whites and seven years longer than non-Hispanic blacks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Researchers call it the “Hispanic paradox”. Hispanics die later, on average, than non-Hispanic whites, even though they have lower incomes, less access to health care and a bigger incidence of health issues such as diabetes and obesity. As more Hispanics continue to move into the United States, they are beginning to adopt the American diet of diabetes and obesity. There should be an emphasis put on eating healthier foods to keep the community healthy and active.
