CBD | Craftrina Opens it’s Doors to Handmade CBD Products

Keep hearing the word CBD? For those of you who have, but aren’t exactly sure what it is— we encourage you to take a moment to read our easy to understand explanation.  CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It’s obtained from cannabis plants through the process of extraction (intense pressure).

CBD vs. THC—What’s the Difference?

Now, here’s the thing—just because it’s extracted from hemp-based and cannabis plants, it does not in any way have psychoactive effects as its cousin THC. THC is short for Tetrahydrocannabinol which is a psychotropic cannabinoid derived from the cannabis marijuana plant. It’s actually one of more than 100 compounds found in cannabis plants. Hemp which has been grown under the Industrial Hemp Farming Act and used in products contains 0.3% or less THC. So, in other words—it’s not going to get you ‘high’.

Health Benefits of CBD

The wonderful thing is the vast array of health benefits it provides. THC is mainly used for recreational purposes. It’s now being infused into many common health and beauty products

The World Health Organization (WHO) report states “To date, there is no evidence of recreational use of CBD or any public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD,” and that it’s “not associated with abuse potential.” They further state that it has “been demonstrated as an effective treatment.”

CBD Sales Predicted to Keep Growing

In the last year or two CBD has stepped out of the THC shadow and has been holding its own in the limelight. Are you ready for this? Did you know, as of now, it’s growing at a significant faster pace than cannabis in the U.S. alone and is projected soon to be a $22 BILLION industry. Pretty insane isn’t?

As the number of consumers rise for industrial Hemp derived CBD infused products, it’s no surprise that the number will continue to steadily rise in the next few years. According to a report published by New Frontier Data, the CBD industry just in the US grew nearly 40% in 2017. This means that sales reached $367 Million across hemp-derived and marijuana-derived markets. The U.S. CBD market will soon expand its growth three main sectors, hemp-derived, marijuana-derived and pharmaceutical. As the list of health benefits grow, so does International demand.
