DIY Embroidered Wall Hanging

Do you have any woven pieces at home? I’ve had a little woven piece that I’ve moved around my home for years. I’d usually use it to set under a vase or some home décor pieces. I love the colors in it and decided I wanted to show it off more by turning it into a Wall Hanging. I decided to add a message to mine, but you can trace a pattern or make your own design. This DIY Embroidered Wall Hanging is super easy to make and doesn’t take much time at all. I made most of this as a passenger in the car. What you need: woven textile, yarn, large needle, scissors, wooden dowel This is the woven textile I used. You can use a rug, table runner or a woven wall hanging you already have for this. Thread a large needle with the yarn of your choice. I added my message free hand, but if you want to draw it on with a marker, you can do that and then trace the words. Tie a knot at the end of the yarn and stick through the weaving from the back. Since I made this so quickly, I forgot to take pictures along the way. I added the words with a chain stitch, but wasn’t happy with how they looked. I added another row of stitching right next to the first and love the thicker letters. You can see the difference the double stitching makes in the picture below. I added some lines to the top and bottom of my weaving and then made tassels with the same yarn. I added the tassels to the bottom of my wall hanging and then tied the top to a wooden dowel. Now you can show off your DIY embroidered wall hanging!
