Advertising Arts alumnus Ronnie del Carmen became the very first Thomasian to be nominated for and win an Academy Award / Oscar.
Del Carmen, the co-director of the Disney-Pixar Film entitled “Inside Out,” was nominated along with Pete Docter, Meg LeFauve, and Josh Cooley for Writing (Original Screenplay).
The movie itself won an Oscar for Animated Film. The award was received by Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera.
The proud Thomasian went home to UST last August 2015, in a twin bid to promote Inside Out and return to the 21-hectare campus that served as the breeding ground for one of Pixar’s brightest minds today.
