Naturopathy and Allopathy, both have their own advantages and disadvantages. They both have their place in modern medicine. To make a choice between the two first requires you to know the difference between the two.
The basic difference between Naturopathy and Allopathy is simple. While the goal of allopathic medical practice is to diagnose and treat a disease through suppression or removal, naturopathic medicine aims to diagnose and treat a disease process through supporting and strengthening the body’s natural resources.

Let us take a closer look at the two medical practices:

Naturopathy –

Naturopathy is an alternative form of medicine that uses a wide range of natural ways of Treatment including, Ayurveda, homeopathy acupuncture, as well as diet and lifestyle counseling. It is a non-invasive method of treatment and is considered holistic.

If you want to help heal your body and restore it to its functioning, healthy self again, many patients find that naturopathic remedies are very beneficial. The focus of naturopathy is detoxifying as it is based on the belief that accumulation of toxins is the root cause of all diseases. The system believes that the body is made up of the five elements of nature that isearth, water, fire, air and ether. It is believed that an imbalance in any of the elements is what causes illnesses. While Allopathy treats the symptoms, naturopathy takes a holistic approach and does not include medicating you. It believes in treating the human body as a whole and removing the root cause of the diseases rather than treating individual organs or offering symptomatic remedies.

The essence of Naturopathy is in correcting the human system. Since most of the chronic ailments such as back problems, diabetics occurs because of neglect and if addressed at the initial stages by simple regulation the problems can be contained.

Treatment: Involves restoring the imbalance in the body through different therapies, packs, yoga and dietary changes. No medicine is prescribed. The highlight being it is low risk with few or no side effects. For example, the body may cook up a Fever in reaction to a bacterial infection. Fever creates an inhospitable environment for the harmful bacteria, thereby destroying it. Of course, the naturopathic physician would not allow the fever to get dangerously high. Customize each diagnosis and treatment plan to fit each patient. We all heal in different ways and the naturopathic physician respects our differences.

Allopathy –
Allopathy uses physical interventions to treat or suppress symptoms or pathophysiologic processes of diseases or conditions. It is basically treating the disease by conventional means that is with drugs having effects opposite to the symptoms.

Allopathic medicine relies heavily on research-based practice. Proof of the effectiveness of any alternative to allopathic approaches comes in the form of clinical trials. This practice comes in handy in cases such as emergency treatment for accidents and injuries, or emergency treatment for illnesses.

Allopathic physicians deal with the agent that causes infection rather than with the immune system of the patient. It is the prevailing medical model most of us have grown up with and is used globally. Whether it is a simple head ache or a life threatening heart problem, allopathic physicians first diagnose the symptom and give you drugs to treat you. In case the drug does not work, they go for more advance treatment such as surgery. Allopathic medicine is responsible for extraordinary breakthroughs in surgery from joint replacements to heart bypass procedures and pace-makers that prolong life.

Treatment: Involves identifying the symptom and treating it through medication. For instance, if you are suffering from fever, the part of an allopathic treatment for fever may include the use of a drug which reduces the fever, while also including a drug that attacks the cause of the fever.
