11 Triathlon Events In Ontario This Summer

We’re just a few weeks away from the start of summer therefore along with sports camps and extreme fitness events, the Ontario Triathlon Series is just two months away from starting. There are 11 Triathlon events in Ontario this summer and we wanted to make sure you know about each event. For beginners, there are triathlons designed just for you which include a 400m swim, 10km bike ride and 2.5km sprint. For the extreme athletes who like to emulate Olympic courses, there are many triathlons this summer which feature a 1500m swim, 40km bike ride, and 20km ride. Here is a list of the 11 Triathlon Events in Ontario this summer.

Woodstock Triathlon – June 11th 2016

The Woodstock Triathlon features two races: a beginner triathlon and a sprint triathlon. The sprint triathlon features a 750m swim, 20km bike ride, and 5km run. The Woodstock Triathlon takes place at the Pittock Lake Conservation area and marks the unofficial start of Ontario’s triathlon season. Entry fees for the Woodstock Triathlon starts at $44.

Welland Triathlon – June 25th-26th 2016

The Welland Triathlon, also called the Rose City Triathlon features a beginners triathlon, sprint triathlon and grueling long course for the extreme participants. The long course features a 2km swim, 56km bike ride, and 15km run which is longer than the olympic triathlon course. This year’s event takes place at the International Flatwater Centre in Welland which was also used in the 2015 Pan-Am Games. Entry Fees Start at $44.

Belwood Triathlon – July 9th 2016

The Belwood Triathlon features the beginners triathlon, sprint triathlon and standard triathlon which includes a 750m swim, 30km bike ride, and 7.5km run. This year, the Belwood Triathlon will take place at the very scenic Belwood Lake Conservation Area. Entry fees start at $44.

Gravenhurst Triathlon – July 16-17th 2016

The Gravenhurst Triathlon is one of the most unique Triathlon events in the world because the starting point is on the Muskoka Steamships. Participants mark the start of these races by jumping off the Wynonna and Segwun Steamships. This year’s event features three races: beginners triathlon, sprint races, and olympic races. Due to the capacity of these steamships, only 300 participants are permitted to enter this race therefore the sooner you enter, the better. Entry fees start at $44.

Kingston Triathlon – July 31st 2016

The Kingston Triathlon, also known as the K-Town Triathlon is the most challenging Ontario Triathlon event of the summer because there are just two races: standard triathlon and long course. This marquee event has been taking place in the city of Kingston, Ontario since 1984. Entry fees start at $64

Bracebridge Triathlon – August 6th 2016

The Bracebridge Triathlon takes place at Annie Williams Park and features a beginners race, sprint race, and Olympic race. Entry fees start at $44.

Toronto Triathlon – August 20th-21th 2016

The Toronto Triathlon, also called the Toronto Island Triathlon is the largest Triathlon event of the summer. This event just features two races: the beginners race and the sprint race. Participants must remember that the starting point of this race begins at Hanlan’s Point on the Toronto Islands, therefore participants must give themselves plenty of time to travel via ferry. Entry fees start at $56.50

Wasaga Beach Triathlon – August 27th-28th 2016

The Wasaga Beach Triathlon gives participants the chance to swim in the longest freshwater beach in the world. This event features a beginners race, sprint race, and olympic race. Don’t miss out on a great party on the beach. Entry fees start at $44.

Lakeside Triathlon – September 10th-11th 2016

The Lakeside Triathlon which takes place in Woodstock, Ontario is unique because this is an event for kids and adults. Kids as young as 3 years old could enter this event and compete alongside their parents as this event has multiple courses for just about any age. Entry fees start at $18.

Georgina Triathlon – September 11th 2016

The Georgina Triathlon is one of the newest triathlon events in Ontario and it takes place at family friendly Lake Simcoe. This year’s event features a beginners race and sprint race. Entry fees start at $44.

Ontario Women’s Triathlon – September 10th 2016

Ontario Women’s Triathlon is one of the only triathlon events in the world which are designed for women. This year’s women’s triathlon will take place at Lake Simcoe and features one modified sprint course which includes a 500m swim, 15km bike ride, and 4km run. Entry fees start at $56.
