Last weekend’s expedition led me to Bondi beach. And after one weekend there and it’s safe to say I am hooked. For me, there is something so appealing about the laid back nature of Bondi. With only a twenty minute drive from the city centre to Bondi, you get the best of both a coastal and city world in one.
Haven’t convinced you yet?
Perhaps my top 5 picks will help win you over…
1. Bondi is a foodie heaven.
Without a doubt, Bondi is a food lovers delight! There are countless cafes and restaurants, many with great views, food and atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for a post night out recovery meal or a healthy after beach option, Bondi is not one to dissapoint. Here’s my pick of the crop:
FAVOURITE DINNER: Bondi Hardware – I seem to head here every time I go to Bondi. It has a beautifully designed ‘share plate’ style menu which makes it a great destination for catching up with a group of friends. Just make sure to pre book or get there early to reserve a table, this place is chockers most nights.
What to order? Haloumi and watermelon salad. (Weird combo, I know, but it tastes amazing!)
Where? 39 Hall St, Bondi Beach
FAVOURITE DESSERT: Messina – There is no wonder this place has been voted the number one ice-cream shop in Australia because it is AHmazing. The gelati menu includes 40 signature flavours including favourites such as salted caramel and white chocolate, tiramisu and pistachio and many more. Drooling.
What to order? Special of the day
Where? 6/61 Hall Street, Bondi Beach
FAVOURITE BREAKFAST: (see point 4)
FAVOURITE COFFEE: Chapter One Coffee and Wine Room
Chapter One Cofffee and Wine Room offers awesome coffee, serves up a beautiful view of the beach and charges a fraction of the price you would pay for a coffee in Brisbane. Heck with places like Chapter One why the hell am I still living in Brisbane?
What to order: Coffee of choice.
Where? 3/34 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach
2. Beach, sand and sun!
This point is a given.
Bondi is the perfect destination for swimming, surfing and lounging on the beach! Spanning over 1km long, with beautiful blue water and white sand, it is no wonder Bondi is a favourite icon of Aussie beach and surf culture.
I think this photo shows you exactly what I am talking about…
3. Bondi Junction is just a hop, skip and a jump away which means one thing… shopping!!!
If you hate large department stores then you will probably turn your nose up at me for including this point … because Bondi Junction is the largest of large shopping centres. But with so many stores on offer it is hard not to enjoy yourself. Head there during the end of season sales and you will be spoilt for choice on half priced items.
4. Bondi Wholefoods.
Yessss, I know I already had a section on food choices, but I was so blown away by this cafe that I thought it deserved it it’s own point.
Let me explain…
- Cacao berry spelt pancakes
- Spiced quinoa porridge
- Mushroom bruschetta
- Superfood summer bircher bowl
5. Bondi to Bronte walk
The coastal walk from Bondi Beach to Bronte Beach was my favourite part of the weekend. The views are fantastic and with the salt air blowing it is almost impossible not to relax and enjoy yourself.
If you decide to run it there will be no shortage of running motivators ! I haven’t seem so many abs in one place since Miami.
Here is a picture of me pretending to have abs.
So there you have my favourite picks of Bondi, do you think I have missed something? Feel free to leave a comment below
