One of the great features of the Mindspa is that as well as using it with your eyes closed for relaxation and meditation, you can also use it with “eyes open” for enhanced concentration.
Being able to use your MindSpa when you’re reading or working at your computer can help to clear your mind of external distractions and enable you to focus on the task at hand.
When MindSpa first introduced their “eyes open” light-glasses, I must admit that I was a little sceptical about the idea. I have fairly sensitive eyes and I didn’t think that I’d like the sensation of having my eyes open while the lights were flickering.
But MindSpa have been very clever in the way they’ve designed the glasses. First, the LEDs are positioned around your eyes so that they are not in your direct line of sight, and secondly, of course, you can control the intensity of the light. I always have the lights set very dim and the result is that I’m hardly aware of the flickering sensation.
To my surprise, I’ve found the “eyes-open” use of the MindSpa to be extremely effective – in fact, I’m using it now to write this article.
I use my MindSpa in this way pretty much every day, particularly in the afternoons when my concentration is beginning to fade. I especially find it useful to use my MindSpa with my eyes open when I need to do something that I’m not that interested in or enthusiastic about – it really does help me to focus and get the job done.
I’ve also got my fifteen years old daughter using it. She was finding it difficult to revise for some important exams recently – she said that she couldn’t keep her attention on the work and kept day-dreaming. So she stared studying with her MindSpa and found that she was able concentrate much more easily on her books.
Studying when your mind is in a more relaxed state has also been shown to improve memory and recall. Maybe it was just coincidence, but my daughter did brilliantly in her exams !
