Health Care Business Valuation Veteran Affiliates with Carnahan Group
Health care business valuation veteran Craig Smith has formally affiliated with Tampa, Florida-based health care advisory firm Carnahan Group.
Smith is the U.S. national practice leader of the Senior housing and health care practice of Colliers International, a Toronto-based global commercial real estate services organization.
In his new role with Carnahan Group, Smith will provide health care organizations with business and asset valuation services.
Smith has conducted appraisals on more than 5,000 senior housing and health care facilities, focusing exclusively on this specific real estate sector over 25 years. As national practice leader with Colliers, he has worked with major accounting and business valuation firms to provide valuations of the real property assets in healthcare transactions.
Carnahan Group leverages specialists in different subspecialties of the healthcare industry like Smith, who possesses knowledge of healthcare compliance, valuations and transactions.
Love Funding Welcomes Larisma to Origination Team
Washington, D.C.-based Love Funding, a provider of FHA multifamily, affordable and health care financing, has welcomed Lawrence Larisma as its new director of loan originations. Larisma will be located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He brings roughly 20 years of experience in commercial real estate finance to the firm, most recently serving as a director at RED Capital Group in Charlotte. He specializes in debt, equity and mezzanine financing for multifamily, senior housing and commercial real estate, and has originated and underwritten more than $1.3 billion in financing transactions.
Before RED Capital Group, Larisma founded and served as CEO of Reiles Capital Group, a capital advisory firm based in New York. He was also a senior originator and FHA MAP/LEAN Underwriter at Greystone & Co., a New York-based real estate investment banking firm, as well as its subsidiary, Greystone Funding Corporation.
Wirth Appointed Executive Director of Bridges by EPOCH at Sudbury
Sudbury, Massachusetts-based EPOCH Senior Living has appointed Cynthia Wirth executive director of Bridges by EPOCH at Sudbury, a memory care and assisted living community scheduled to open in summer 2018.
In her new role, Wirth will direct the overall operations of the community and lead staff in the daily care of residents living with memory impairment.
A certified dementia practitioner, Wirth has more than 12 years of experience in senior living. She spent the past eight years as executive director for a Northeast-based senior living company.
Wingate Healthcare Welcomes Cummings, Scharf
Wingate Healthcare, a Needham, Massachusetts provider of senior living communities, has welcomed Mark Cummings as its new chief financial officer (CFO).
Before joining Wingate, he was a principal in the Boston office of CliftonLarsonAllen, a certified public accounting and consulting firm. There, Cummings was an engagement principal and lead auditor on Wingate’s account for the last 14 years.
Cummings has a bachelor of science in accounting from Bryant University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Mass Senior Care, the New York State Health Facilities Association, LeadingAge Massachusetts and LeadingAge New York.
In addition, Wingate Healthcare has also appointed Jonathan Scharf as associate general counsel.
Scharf joined Wingate in 2014. Since then, he has focused on litigation, financial, real estate, vendor and other corporate transactional work.
He began his career as an associate at legal firm Quinn, Emanuel, Urquhart & Sullivan in New York, and later became an associate at Krokidas & Bluestein in Boston, where he practiced general business litigation, including representation of nursing homes in employment matters.
Krystopa Steps Up to VP Role for Allegro
St. Louis-based senior living developer Allegro has appointed Mark Krystopa as vice president of dining services.
He brings more than 20 years of industry experience with menu development, food management, service standards and product identification to the company. In his new role, Krystopa will support dining operations.
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, New York, Krystopa’s most recent position was with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, based in Chicago. As the corporate director of culinary operations, Americas, he was responsible for a region encompassing more than 350 hotels, spanning North, Central and South America.
Krystopa has been awarded the designation and certification of Chef de Cuisine by the American Culinary Federation.
Brightview Senior Living Promotes Teeters
Baltimore, Maryland-based Brightview Senior Living has promoted Andrew Teeters to senior vice president of development.
He joined Brightview 11 years ago as a development director. Since then, Teeters has played a role in the development of Brightview communities from Great Falls, Virginia, to Wakefield, Massachusetts.
Erickson Living Appoints New Directors
Ann’s Choice, an Erickson Living retirement community in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has welcomed Joseph A. Carretta as director of general services.
Carretta has more than 20 years of operational leadership experience. He joins Ann’s Choice from Carretta Consulting Services, LLC, a business, education and product marketing consulting firm that he founded and where he served as president. Prior to private consulting, he was the president and CEO of Marilyn Monroe Spas. Prior to this post, he served as executive vice president of operations for Empire Education Group, the parent company of Empire Beauty Schools.
In a similar move, Eagle’s Trace, an Erickson Living retirement community in Houston, has named Michael McKissack as its director of general services.
He brings more than 20 years of program and operations management, both domestic and international, to Eagle’s Trace. He has held tenures at firms such as the Fluor Corporation, Halliburton and the Compass Group, where he utilized his engineering training on projects for companies including the St. Jude’s Medical Research Center in Tennessee to the U.S. federal complex in Arkansas.
Beginning in 2002, McKissack accepted international assignments involving the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. State Department to provide logistical support for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. In this post, he was responsible for base construction an maintenance, accommodations, dining and security for personnel serving in those regions.
At Eagle’s Trace, McKissack will oversee the daily operations of the general services department that is made up of 68 professionals responsible for the complete infrastructure and security of the 71-acre campus. He will also convene with corporate and contract partners for special projects such as the opening of Galveston Crossing, a new independent living building, in 2018.
Finally, Seabrook, an Erickson Living senior living community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, has promoted Jennifer McNamara to associate executive director. Prior to this position, she was director of resident life at Seabrook.
McNamara started her career at Seabrook in 2003 as a social worker. She was promoted to social work manager in 2007 and subsequently took on the role of social work peer team leader for all of the Erickson Living communities. In 2015, Jennifer was promoted to resident life manager. The following year, she took over as the director of resident life, maintaining the cultural components of the department as well as incorporating the ancillary service areas of home support and certified home health.
McNamara is a licensed clinical social worker and received a master’s degree from Rutgers University.
Melissa Curry Appointed CEO of Methodist Village Senior Living
Melissa Curry has been named chief executive officer of Methodist Village Senior Living in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Curry is a native of Fort Smith and a certified Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care trainer, a certified dementia practitioner and a certified dementia care manager.
She joined Methodist Village in 2016 from the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce.
