A lot of dog lovers are reluctant to use the flea and tick control products as they think that the chemical ingredients may harm their dogs. For them, the natural homemade solutions is the best option. Here is how you can use natural ways to prevent and control flea and tick infestation in your dog.

Juice: The citrus act as a flea repellent. A freshly squeezed juice of lemon or orange can put on your dog’s fur to remove those deadly fleas. A light rubbing of juice is advisable.

Do not forget that the oil extracted from the citrus fruits is not safe for cats and dogs. The oil in the rinds of citrus fruits contains limonene, it works as an insect repellent as well as it is found in household cleaning products. Make sure you use those cleaning products to the area where your dog cannot reach. If the limonene is ingested it can harm your dog’s liver. The oil is specific to the cells inside the rinds. Special equipment is required to extract the oil so it is not found in fresh squeezed orange and lemon.





Clean Home: Keeping your house clean is another option to control fleas and ticks in dogs. Cleaning the whole house can reduce the population of fleas and ticks in your house.

Places to Avoid: Avoid your dog’s exposure to the wooded or grassy area where they can pick up ticks. Make a t-shirt fitting your dog’s body and use the same when you go in a park with your dog for a walk. It will restrict the ticks to make their way to your dog’s body.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar also works well to prevent fleas and ticks in your dog. A quarter liter water and a teaspoon full of fermented apple cider vinegar can be given to your dog. It will keep your dog’s skin little acidic that work as a flea and tick repellent.

Flea Comb: Use a flea comb to remove hidden flea, flea larvae, and eggs from your dog’s fur. The closed teeth of the comb remove all and protect your dog from flea.

Using the above solutions, check which solution suits the best to your dog and choose it accordingly. If your dog behaves abnormally after using any natural or chemical products, stop using the products.
