Toasted Coconut Sugar Scrub: An exfoliating body scrub made with real coconut.
Body scrubs are such fun to make - and even more fun to use. I love to play around with different kinds of exfoliants when I make new recipes. Salt and sugar are great, but there are so many other interesting ingredients out there to experiment with. Shredded Coconut, for example, makes a great addition to body scrubs. Its soft texture, subtle scent, and lovely bright white color make it super versatile.
I combined our Extra Fine Shredded Coconut with cane sugar and a blend of naturally aromatic oils and butters to make a body scrub that is good enough to eat. The mellow aroma of virgin coconut oil smells lovely with a bit of cocoa butter and a splash of vanilla extract. It's sort of like exfoliating with a really delicious cookie!
Macadamia Nut Oil makes up the majority of the scrub's liquid ingredients. It has a wonderful texture that absorbs into the skin quickly while delivering a hefty dose of moisture. This is one of my favorite ingredients for making body scrubs, but if you prefer to use something nut-free, try swapping the Macadamia Nut Oil for apricot or sunflower oil instead.
