Kick Back And Relax For Stress Awareness Day 2017

April 16th, 2017, is Stress Awareness Day! In fact, the entire month of April is dedicated to educating people about how stress affects your physical, emotional, and mental health. Is it a coincidence that this April happens to be Stress Awareness Month when Tax Day is also in April? We think not!

Stress has a direct correlation with heart disease, depression, and a weakened immune system. When the immune system is compromised, your Body is prone to developing various symptoms and health ailments. Stress can even influence your eating habits. Take the time to assess what you need when you’re hungry before reaching for whatever is close and easy.

Take this day to relax. Hang out with friends, watch your favorite show, head to the beach, take a hike in nature, or treat yourself to a soothing massage. You can also check out our stress-relieving tips below! These can be done any day of the week to help naturally lower stress levels.

Get Out In Nature:

Maybe you got into an argument with your father in law or you had it out with a coworker and you feel like you can’t go on. Take a walk outside because looking at nature actually increases positive thoughts, and helps you feel more generous and caring.

Don’t Overdo It:

One of the most important things you can do is to not overdo it. What we mean by this is to have a plan of attack at the dinner table. Eat mindfully, not emotionally. Fill half of your plate with vegetables before you go for anything else. This way you can ensure you’re eating a lower calorie meal.

Get Some Rest:

Make sleep a priority. Not getting enough rest can trigger negative brain activity and increase stress. A healthy sleeping pattern can help alleviate stress, providing you with the energy you need for everyday life encounters.

Relax, It’s Ok:

Schedule relaxation time. Most people are so busy with their everyday life activities that they forget to schedule time to just unwind. It’s a great way to recondition your body. Relaxation time can consist of anything from vacationing, looking at calming visuals, listening to tranquil sounds, alone time, or even taking a walk.

Diet Change:

Avoid caffeine, processed foods, sugar, alcohol and any unnatural substances. These types of foods and substances tend to stimulate anxiety and often enable your ability to handle the situation at hand. Eating raw fruits and vegetables provides you with the purest form of the essential nutrients your body needs. If you are polluting your body with other processed foods, chemicals, meats, dairy products, or junk foods, then it is more difficult for the body to absorb those nutrients.
