Rickettsial Spotted Fever: United States vs. Brazil

A higher case / fatality ratio for reported Spotted Fever cases in Brazil vs. the United States suggests that the Brazilian strain of Rickettsia rickettsii is more virulent.  In the following charts I’ve compared data for disease incidence and deaths for each of the countries, and contrasted death rates per 100,000 population.
