Chemotherapy Makes Things Worse? New Study Opens Discussion…

Very recently published research in the Journal “Science Translational Medicine” has revealed some shocking truths.

The researchers studied the effect of drugs on patients with breast Cancer and found that the medication increases the chance of cancer cells spreading to other parts of the body, and when they do, they are almost always lethal.

In the UK alone, over 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Britain every year and 11,000 will die from their illness, while over 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, of which nearly 12,000 will die.

We need to start getting on top of this NOW.

It’s getting worse. Incidence rates for prostate cancer are projected to rise by 12% in the UK between 2014 and 2035.

And it’s a two-pronged approach – prevention and treatment.

While this entire site is indirectly (and sometimes directly) about the prevention piece, I often talk about the treatment piece through the work of my great friends at The Truth About Cancer. Ty Bollinger and his team have been highlighting and in many cases exposing the truths about cancer treatments for many years.

But still so many people find it hard to believe.

Research like this new study really drive home some facts – there are HUGE risks to Chemotherapy, and it is not as effective as we’re led to believe.

This new research suggests that, although it shrinks tumours in the short term, it could trigger the spread of cancer cells around the body.

It is thought the toxic medication switches on a repair mechanism in the body which ultimately allows tumours to grow back stronger. It also increases the number of ‘doorways’ on blood vessels which allow cancer to spread throughout the body.

Of course, there are limitations to the study, and it’s early days (it cannot be easy getting funding for research which could potentially damage a treatment worth billions of dollars), but the findings are very, strikingly similar to those we’ve been worried about for a long time…

That chemotherapy could be doing more harm than good.

It’s not to say it’s pointless, a danger, or unethical or any of those things. In many cases it works, just as in many cases it doesn’t.

But the fact is, it is highly damaging to the rest of the body and, as studies like this show, it can end up leading to even bigger problems down the track that are fatal.

One Size Fits One

For me this research is alarming but not surprising, and the take-home message is not to simply accept that conventional treatment will always work, or that one size fits all. There are types of treatments that work better than others, in different cases, and we need to be VERY careful not to be blindly pushed into a conventional protocol, regardless of the situation.

One size fits one.

Chemotherapy is very, very damaging to the body and we need to be mindful and aware of this. It is vastly more effective in some cases than others, but it should not be used as a blanket, default treatment.

Here’s a fascinating interview with Ty from The Truth About Cancer with Dr. Irvin Sahni which gives a really well-balanced, argument:

Remember – always look at the big picture, think holistically, think about what your body might need to heal itself, and do your research. It’s rarely the case that any one side is 100% right and a balanced approach, taking in all arguments and opinions is often best.
