OK, so I succumbed to the charcoal mask trend that’s been peeling the faces off many a instagram gal and providing us with a little hilarity along the way.
After chatting to a client who was less than impressed with the results she got, I thought I’d give it a crack and see what results I pulled up. She gifted me her mask, which was called BLAQ
Now, as you may already know I’m into all things natural beauty round here and unfortunately this mask doesn’t provide a totally green/natural option (it contains parabens and other not so nice things for your face that I avoid- there is no ingredients info on their site, just the promise that “our products are BASED on natural ingredients”
I personally found it to do the trick on my blackheads- however would I use it regularly, well no because I’m not entirely happy with the ingredients. Did it remove every blackhead? No but it did a good job. Did my skin feel “clean” afterwards, Yes. Do I generally feel plagued by blackheads? No.
Are there different ways to manage blackheads? Absolutely!
Keep your skin clean and cleansed! Here’s my skin care routine video
Include a steam into your skin care routine to open pores and then cleanse well. A gentle squeeze (with a clean tissue) doesn’t go astray either. I really do avoid squeezing my face regularly.
Drink plenty of water
Avoid excess caffeine
Eat a balanced diet and avoid sugar
Don’t leave sweat/dirt on your face, especially after your workout (as point one states keep your skin clean). Carry a natural option face wipe in your gym bag if you need it in an emergency.
Here’s the peel in action below, note it just goes on your own blackhead prone areas. I pre steamed my face to open pores then applied. Wait for it to harden, then peel and wipe off excess.
Have you tried similar masks, what are your thoughts?
