How to use – in a cup of boiling water, drop a Chamomile tea bag and cover it with a lid. If the tea bags aren’t available, you can also use dried chamomile directly. All you need to do is just soak 1-2 teaspoons of chamomile in a cup and pour boiling water and let I sit for 10 minutes. Or else you can boil the chamomile in water for 10 minutes, strain it, and start sipping it slowly.

Hot Water Bag

Using a hot water pack can be really helpful. You need to make sure that it is not too hot. The water needs to be comfortably warm. If you don’t have a hot water pack/ bag, you can use a normal plastic water bottle and fill it with warm water. Heat helps in loosening and relaxing the muscles. You can just put it over the pain area and hold for a few minutes. Whenever you feel your stomach is aching due to rigidity in stomach muscles, you can try this method.

What you need – a hot water pack, hot water bottle or something similar, a cozy couch to liw down.

How to use – find a nice place to lie down, and rest the hot pack over your belly. It should be of a comfortable temperature, a little more than the body temperature. You can do this for at least 15 minutes or however it is comfortable for you.

Rice Water / Starch

Rice water is precisely what it sounds like- the water left over after you cook rice. It is a demulcent, i.e a substance that relieves inflammation by forming a sort of coating or a barrier over the membrane lining the stomach.

What You Need – ½ cup of white rice, 2 cups of water, a pot.

How to use– firstly you need to cook rice with twice the amount of water. Using plain old long grain white rice is the best to use. Put rice in the pot on a stove, add water, cook over medium flame. After about 15 minutes, the rice starts to become tender, soft and sticky. Remove the pot from the heat and let it soak for around 3 minutes with the lid on the pot. Drain the water and drink it when warm. You can either add a pinch of salt or honey to enhance the taste. The separated rice can be used for meal later.

Fresh peppermint tea can help relax the stomach muscles in a big way. It also helps in improving the flow of bile, which in-turn helps proper digestion. This is particularly useful for indigestion or gas related issues.

What you need – A handful of fresh peppermint leaves or 1-2 teaspoons of dried leaves, a mug, a cup of water.

How to use– soak the fresh peppermint leaves in a cup of hot boiling water for 10-15 minutes until all the properties are released into the water. Drain in and gently sip while it is still warm.
