Eat your way to better eyesight

A recent study suggests that a diet full of Green, leafy vegetables may lower the risk of glaucoma. Vitamins A and C have also been shown to reduce glaucoma risk, so eating foods rich in these vitamins is imperative. Some of the most helpful fruits and vegetables for healthy vision include collard greens, cabbage, kale, spinach, Brussels sprouts, celery, carrots, peaches, radishes, green beans, and beets.

Oxidative stress is associated with damage to the optic nerve in glaucoma, and further damage can be prevented with antioxidants. Many essential antioxidants can come from pomegranates, acai berries, cranberries, dark chocolate, and green, leafy vegetables, to name a few.

This being said, while nutrition can play a vital role in reducing risk, there is no data stating vitamin supplements can prevent glaucoma.
