Why Yoga for Children

Children encounter emotional, social, and physical challenges. We cannot keep them in a shell and we cannot fight challenges for them. The best thing is to equip them with life skills to explore their lives.

When children learn techniques for self-health, relaxation, and inner fulfillment. They can navigate life’s challenges with a little more ease. Yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness with a physical activity that’s noncompetitive. Fostering cooperation and compassion is a great gift to give our children.

Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Practicing Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface.

Yoga Improves Memory and Cognitive Functioning

Practicing yoga requires concentration of both the mind and the body. We have to pay attention to the movement of our bodies and how our breathing coordinates with those movements.

Some yoga poses, particularly balancing poses, require that you concentrate more than other poses.

When kids practice yoga, they are essentially practicing their ability to focus on the task at hand. In their day-to-day lives, this translates to better focus and cognitive functioning at school, leading to improved academic achievement.

Finally, teaching proper breathing techniques and building physical and mental strength from a young age; helps to reduce the chances of obesity, depression. While helping them improve their self-esteem, self-confidence, and overall wellbeing.
