5 tips to practice Laghu Shankha Prakshalana successfully!

Colon Cleansing or Laghu Shankha Prakshalana is a great practice to deal with digestive problems. Such as constipation, flatulence, acidity, indigestion, etc. In fact, digestive disorder is the root of various disease. A clean colon improves the health and prana levels of the body.

5 tips to practice Laghu Shankha Prakshalana successfully!

A lot of practitioners are not able to complete Laghu Shankha Prakshalana in  the first few attempts. This can be due to a host of reasons. Thus, a couple of pointers to help you cleanse your colon successfully.

1) Prepare the Mind

Mental conditioning plays an important role to ensure that you defecate plain water by the end of this Kriya.

Example: If you have to walk on a 5 feet plank on the floor. You can breeze through the plank. And if this same plank was on top of a building, your mind would make it difficult to even try crossing the plank.

Thus, do not get overwhelmed by the amount of water you need to drink. Prepare the mind, motivate it, believe in yourself and start with Colon cleansing.

2) Warm water with sufficient salt 

Ensure that the water is warm and add sufficient salt that osmosis can happen in the colon. It may take 30 to 45 minutes for the salt water, to have a laxative effect on the body. So be patient and keep doing the asanas.

3) Ensure that the water travels to the right places

A lot of practitioners tend to puke or urinate the water. This will delay and hinder the process of colon cleansing. Thus, ensure that you drink water and practice the required set of asanas; that the water travels to the intestines.

4) Stretch well

Don’t hurry between the rounds. Stretch well in every asana and repeat it eight times to ensure that Laghu happens successfully.

5) Leave worries at the door

A stressed or worried mind is the biggest hindrance in performing Laghu successfully. Thus, move, breathe and center yourself that you can perform this Shatkarma successfully!

After a successful Laghu Shankha Prakshalana, it is essential to rest and eat clean through the day.
