Yoga Stories: Magnificence of the light
There was a man who was blind from birth. His friend spoke about the beauty of the sun and its light. The blind man wanted to understand it further. He asked his friend if he could taste, smell, feel or hear the light. The friend told that it was not possible. Thus, for the blind man the light and its’ beauty was a myth.
The friend took the blind man to various wise people. But, none could explain the magnificence of the light.
Co-incidentally, after a few days, his eyes were operated on. As, someone had donated their eyes. And after the operation, he saw the sun, the light, the colors and their beauty. He believed about the magnificence of the light; only through personal experience.
Similarly, we all can talk about spiritual bliss, oneness and nirvana. Or, we can read about thousands of people’s experiences. But, to understand it, we have to experience. And to experience, we need a sadhana, some discipline that helps us become aware that we are more than a body!
Similarly, the bliss of a regular meditation, yoga practice needs to be experienced. Reading other people’s experiences is like reading a fiction. You need to experience it (even a little will do) to dissolve any skepticism.
