Does It Work?

Assault by Muscle Pharm made our list of the best pre-workout supplements available today. We like Assault for a lot of reasons. It gives you increased endurance for your workouts, greater focus, a great pump, and it tastes really good. Muscle Pharm recreated their formula for the Assault a few years back. The newest version includes more BCAAs, electrolyes, and astragin. They also changed their creatine blend to include just Creapure and Con-Crete. Assault’s new formula is designed to give you an ample and long-sustaining energy boost without pre-workout jitters or a post-workout crash. For most people, Assault doesn’t provide a noticeable kick in your pants type jolt as soon as you take it like some other pre-workouts. However, you will definitely notice considerably higher energy levels and a consistent and clean strength and energy boost. As far as the pump and vascularity, you’re not going to feel the gigantic veins-feel-like-they’re-going-to-explode pump from Assault. However, you will get a solid pump and definite strength boost during your workouts.

Taste

Assault definitely is one of the best tasting pre-workouts. The taste should remind you a little of Kool-Aid, which if you remember from your childhood days, is pretty sweet. So, make sure you mix it with the appropriate amount of water so that it isn’t too overwhelming on your taste buds. But, as long as you dilute it properly, this stuff tastes really great, and you will look forward to taking it.

Note that the scoops are huge, so you should start off taking half scoops (which is their serving size) and work your way up if you want. As for the best-tasting flavors, try Raspberry Lemonade, Pink Lemonade, or Fruit Punch.

User Reviews

The Good:

This pre-workout supplement gave me such a boost I had my best workout after using this a few times; highly recommended. -pprisco

I have been using MusclePharm Assault for a few years. I have tried BSN NO Xplode, Gaspari Superpump, Jack3d and a few others and Assault is still my favorite for both taste and effectiveness. -jerrys888

The Bad:

Assault is an ‘ok’ pre-workout. I’ve tried many and I’m not trying to bash Muscle Pharm, because I’m sure they have great products. However, compared to other pre-workouts I’ve taken (Jack3d, C4, 1MR, etc.) it just can’t hang with the big boys. -Reid Mills

Value

Muscle Pharm did reduce the serving size of the 40 serving tub to 32 half-scoop servings, which equates to about 3-4 weeks worth of PWOs. A 32 serving tub will cost about $1.15/serving, making it fall in line with other comparable PWOs. It isn’t the cheapest PWO, but it also isn’t the most expensive either.

We wholeheartedly recommend Muscle Pharm Assault as one of the best pre-workouts on the market today.  The solid ingredient profile results in a potent pre-workout that will give you a noticeable boost in both mental focus and physical aptitude during your workouts. Simply put, Assault will get you in the gym and keep you there longer so that you can workout harder and break through PRs.
