Lizella Man Arrested in $150,000 Drug Raid

A Drug raid on December 10, 2018, yielded a huge bust of a man presumably looking to distribute over $150,000 worth of multiple different drugs. Central Georgia enforcement officials, during a routine raid in Houston and Bibb counties, were able to take the suspect, Robert Jerome Law, into custody.

According to official reports, the drugs seized broke down into the following:

  • 78.5 grams of crack cocaine
  • 1,191 grams of powder cocaine
  • 1,798 grams of ecstasy

Officers also seized weapons, cars and other property with a combined value of around $735,000. Enforcement officials had a banner year in 2018 with several successes in getting drugs off the street and out of the hands of potential addicts. Read on to learn more about some of the largest strides nationwide.

Puget Sound, WA – June 2018

One of the largest busts of the year occurred in the Pacific Northwest, as officials, over a four-month-long initiative, arrested over 80 people and seized over 95 pounds of methamphetamine.

Additionally, officials seized 75 firearms and unlisted quantities of fentanyl, cocaine and heroin, marking a major step forward in attempting to tackle the area’s pervasive drug issues.

It should be noted that these seizures didn’t all happen in a single instance but took place over a four-month period and spanning four counties in the Seattle area.

Toms River, NJ – March 2018

A record-breaking operation in Ocean City, New Jersey, resulted in 31 people charged with trafficking and nearly a million dollars’ worth of various drugs confiscated in a campaign called “Operation Heading Back.”

This was a landmark victory for drug enforcement officials in the area, as it took more than 30 law enforcement agencies in seven counties working in complete cooperation to take down dealers/traffickers, seizing $900,000 in cash and over $700,000 worth of heroin and cocaine after a months-long operation.

In this case, officials were able to shut down multiple “drug mills” in the counties where the stings occurred, ensuring that these sites would no longer be the source of the state’s drug trade and confiscating a large portion of the infrastructure for manufacturing drugs in New Jersey and the entire region of the U.S.

Dayton, OH – June 2018

Four men were arrested with a shocking amount of fentanyl in Clark County, Ohio, near Dayton, according to a regional task force. The bust, which was reportedly tied to the Mexican cartel, involved a massive 400 grams of fentanyl, a dangerous opiate capable of causing overdose from as little as contact with the skin.

Because of fentanyl’s strength, a little bit goes a long way, which is the reason for the extremely high value of the cache seized by the Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force in Southwest Ohio. Officials say the drugs were valued at over $3.6 million, making it one of the largest busts not only in state history but nationwide.

Reflecting on the Year in Drug Seizures

Much has been made about the practice of criminalizing drug use, and there are proponents of each side of the issue, but nearly everyone agrees that traffickers and high-level drug dealers should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Each of these busts is a step forward in getting huge amounts of addictive substances off the streets and out of the hands of ordinary Americans who continue to struggle in the fight against addiction. It’s not a stretch to think of how many lives may have been saved by removing access to these drugs in metro areas.
