|Oregon Golden Retriever Digs Up $85,000 Worth of Heroin
Kenyon, an 18-month-old Golden Retriever in Yamhill County, Oregon, made quite the discovery earlier this month. His owners, the Avery family, thought he had dug up a time capsule and decided to film themselves opening it. Upon opening the container, they found that it contained drugs.
Yamhill County Sheriff Tim Svenson identified the drugs as more than 15 ounces of black tar heroin—$85,000 worth. Svenson awarded Kenyon with a ribbon, naming him an honorary narcotics dog for life.
Burying drugs underground is just one of many unique ways for smugglers to conceal illegal substances.
In the past few years, authorities—often the U.S. Customs and Border Protection—have found drugs hidden in bars of soap, in packages loaded onto drones, taped onto a cat, inside of dead bugs and disposable diapers, in the seat of a wheelchair, inside a bra, inside porcelain cats, inside bottles of “holy water,” inside breast implants, inside a Nintendo Wii pad, inside a baby stroller and inside tires, to name a few.

This was stated in a press release after officials had discovered opium hidden inside bars of soap last September.
