The big ticket item in the national news last week was the approval of the new American Health Care Act (AHCA), aka the bill to repeal and replace Obamacare. House Republicans pushed the legislation through with a narrow majority on May 4, making all those watching on the sidelines say, “May the Fourth be with our health.” Critics of the bill say it will impact more than 24 million Americans via less Medicaid funding and gutting protections for pre-existing conditions.

Here’s what Richard Dituri, a home care worker from Tulare County, California, and Trump voter, had to say:

“When I voted for President Trump, I wanted him to improve health care. I did not imagine he and Congress would vote to end Medicaid. My care recipient needs Medicaid to survive; he would not have prescription medicines, doctors’ visits or home care services without Medicaid.”

—In its 2017 first quarter earnings report, the CEO of Amedisys (Nasdaq: AMED) said that improving growth on the home health side of the business was “non-negotiable.” Growth flattened during the first three months of the year, while Amedisys’ other segments, including hospice, saw big gains.
