Thousands of Blood Pressure Pills have been recalled in the UK due to fears they contain a chemical used in making Rocket Fuel.

Rocket fuel as the name implies is the fuel used to propel rockets

The guilty drugs are brands of the anti hypertensive Irbesartan made by Actavis. Irbesartan belongs to a class of antihypertensive drugs known as Angiotensin 2 receptor blockers. These drugs help widen the blood vessels. This causes the blood to flow easily and in this way Blood Pressure is lowered.

You will recall that in July 2018, the US FDA ordered a ban on the prescription of another antihypertensive, Valsartan for similar reasons.

Are you hypertensive? This is no reason to stop taking your drugs. See your doctor for a review of your medication if you use the affected brand.
