Medical Tests – Are they all necessary?(Day 1)

Why do medical tests?

Remember to tell your friends and family to subscribe to this service. I’m sure you must have been told one time or the other to go for medical checkup or medical tests. This could have been for pre employment purposes, going to school, NYSC or just because you are aware of the benefits. In this series we will talk about what these tests are about and their individual benefits, it is not enough to do these tests and submit to a doctor, you should know what these tests are checking for and how they can help you live healthier lives. We will talk about routine tests like Blood count, urine analysis and chest xray, we will also talk about some age specific and disease specific tests. You won’t want to miss it.

Full Blood Count

lets start with one of the most common and important #blood tests which is the full Blood Count. A full blood count is a blood test that tells you a lot of things with just a little blood, With a full blood count you can check the following :

Your blood level. This is important. Anaemia means a low blood level. Anaemia will come with a lot of symptoms like light headedness, fatigue and weakness. In severe cases, anaemia can lead to death, a person who is anaemic may need blood supplements or even a blood transfusion. Do you know your blood level?

Another thing full blood count checks is your white blood cell level. White blood cells defend the body against infections. If the levels are raised in your blood test it means you are facing an infection process.

A third parameter a full blood count checks is your Platelet level. Platelets help our blood to clot, so if the values are deranged it means there is a problem. There are many more specialised information a full blood count can also tell us. A full blood count is simple and cheap and can tell a lot about your current state of health.

Why not request for a full blood count.
