Buhari Clone: How it could have been done.

Nigeria’s news space is awash with the tale being spread in many quarters that we have an impostor at the helm of affairs.

Buhari Clone

By What stretch of imagination was this conceived? Well, we had a very frail president who spent the better part of one year on medical leave abroad, a leave many believed he would not return from, at least not looking better.

But like Daddy Showkey’s lyrics in the song “Dyna” – “shame to bad people”, Bubu came back looking stronger, less gaunt, walking straighter and appearing at more functions than before.

Critics were astounded, what could have happened? The explanation- this could not be the same person! But how?  The simple answer #cloning.

So How is Cloning Done?

Essentially there are 3 types of cloning: Genetic, therapeutic and reproductive cloning. Genetic cloning as the name implies means the cloning of genes (#DNA) or characters. Therapeutic cloning involves producing cells to replace injured or diseased tissues.

Both of these processes are not able to produce a full grown Hausa speaking 76 year old man. So we are left with reproductive cloning.

What is Reproductive Cloning?

Essentially a cell  containing DNA is removed from the donor (in this case #Buhari – this can’t be too hard if you are really determined, Aisha, Yusuf or the President’s ADC could help). This cell is now inserted into an egg whose DNA has been removed. This egg is further developed in a lab and then implanted into a female to deliver. Very simple.

This female now delivers a baby identical to Buhari (a clone aka Jubril).

Questions we now face:

  • If this is true, it would have taken at least 70 years to grow baby Jubril to look like Buhari.  In essence, almost 80 years ago somebody in a remote village in Northern Nigeria foresaw Buhari would be president in 2015 and would fall sick and die such that he would need a clone to continue the work.
  •  no human has been successfully cloned despite  numerous claims by various scientists.
  • If this was a possibility, Americans (or Russians) would have been the first to utilise it, a case in mind would have been the assassination of John F. Kennedy
  • Clones are not perfect health wise, in the animals that were successfully cloned some health defects were soon noticed like problems with vital organs like heart, brain and liver

So is Jubril the person in Aso Rock or Buhari? Your guess is as good as mine.
