It is a bothersome skin condition which affects certain people at certain times in their lives.

There is what can best be described as a spot which can take various sizes and shapes. it may occur singly or in groups and clusters, it may feel hard or soft.

In some people it lasts just a short time in others it lasts months and even years prompting them to try all sorts of preparations ranging from soaps to creams to washes and other procedures. Usually teenage boys have it more than their female counterparts while in adulthood more women have it than men.

How does acne come about?

Let’s talk about how acne develops, you know our skin has different components like hair, oil and of course skin cells. These all come together into a plug.

Eventually this plug starts to break down causing a pimple to come up.

There are some areas in the body that have have plenty of glands which produce this skin oil e.g. the face, back, chest and shoulders. That’s why you may notice acne developing more in these areas.

Cause of acne

The main underlying cause of acne is genetic.

Some people are more prone to acne than others these include people that are stressed, have some hormonal conditions, menstruating, sweat a lot and have very active oil glands. Does this describe you? Join me tomorrow as we discuss things you shouldn’t do if you have acne.
