There is a myth that Smoking less, perhaps cutting down from a pack a day to just one cigarette a day, will help you to lower blood pressure and decrease your risk for Heart attack or stroke. I say myth because the medical journal BMJ recently published a review of research that shows smoking even one cigarette a day carries a surprisingly high risk of developing coronary heart disease and stroke.
According to the study, men who smoked one cigarette a day had a 48 percent higher risk of heart attack or stroke than people who never smoked, while women had a 57 percent increase.
The trend in the United States is showing that more and more people are cutting back on how many cigarettes they smoke a day, but the fact remains that if you’re even smoking one cigarette a day you are at greater risk for heart attack, stroke or any other coronary heart conditions.
So, how does smoking hurt your heart?
Among other things, chemicals in cigarette smoke cause the cells that line blood vessels to become swollen and inflamed, which leads to narrowing of those vessels. The chemicals also cause the blood to thicken and form clots inside veins and arteries.
Basically, smoking puts your heart at risk because your arteries and vessels are working that much harder.
L-Arginine has been clinically proven to widen the arteries of the body, thus improving blood flow. If you can find it in yourself to quit smoking, taking a supplement like Cardio Juvenate Plus with L-Arginine, L-Cirtulline, and L-Carnitine, can potentially help those arteries and blood vessels keep blood moving unabridged.
