In Hand Work (Training the Young Horse) – Your Riding Success

In this video, Natasha does some basic in-hand training with her youngest friesian stallion Ebony Park Jorrit. The first thing is to get the rein back, as we walk towards the Horse we want them to begin the rein back.

The second exercise is for the horse to go around Natasha using only his quarters and keep the front legs essentially in the one spot. Hold the reins in one hand a certain way is important so that you can apply either more inside or outside rein or both equally.

And the final exercise is getting the horse to move his entire body. That is shoulders and quarters.
