Ginseng Is Beneficial In Restoring Balance To The Adrenal Gland

We are living in a world, which is moving at an ever-increasing fast pace. This pace places enormous amounts of Stress on our bodies. When were under stress, our bodies become tired, and burned out, we become irritable, our minds become cloudy, and our immune system becomes depressed, which makes us vulnerable to infections and other illnesses.

Stress is related to up to 80% of all diseases today including colds, flu, headache, allergies, diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer. Reducing stress is therefore a critical element in maintaining good health. Ginseng is probably the most studied plant of our time, and one of the amazing discoveries in these studies is that ginseng is reported to improve our bodies ability to adapt to stress, and to stabilize itself.

Our body's ability to resist stress is a function of the adrenal gland. When our bodies are under stress, our adrenal glands become enlarged and hyperactive in order to resist the damaging effects of stress. When the stress level is too high or lasts too long our adrenal gland shrinks, our bodies become exhausted and we are unable to fight the stress anymore. We then end up with various physical diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and cancer.

Research has demonstrated that ginseng has a balancing effect. When the body is in the resistance stage to stress, ginseng increases the adrenal function and prevents the gland from enlarging. In the exhaustion stage of stress, ginseng is reported to protect the adrenal gland from shrinkage and exhaustion. Thus, ginseng is beneficial in restoring balance to the adrenal gland.
