Who are People????

It’s a Fixed condition.

For each of us, the amount of trust we have for other people is fixed in infancy.

That determines the range of ideas we are going to believe. Of course it determines how happy we are. It’s going to determine how honest we are going to be with everybody else. It’s going to establish how much conflict surrounds us, from loving and trusting, to never ending conflict about everything, that is just never going to end.

We start out trusting. We have self-esteem off the charts. We feel Powerful, and we trust everybody else, absolutely.

It should have stayed that way. That is nature’s normal. In this condition we are happy, feel powerful, just want to love people, and play. Anybody like this can be trusted, absolutely, all the way to the moon and back.

For most of us, we didn’t get to stay this way though.

Before we proceed, it should be understood that our level of trust can be altered. Really bad experiences can make us more untrusting. Therapy, if it includes release of repressed feelings, allows us to become more trusting. This movement is difficult, but possible.

In our present environment we all get damaged somewhat.

We shouldn’t, but we do. We will discuss why shortly.

With damage, our level of trust becomes less.

When we encounter another, if we can get an estimate on their level of trust for others, we can pretty much predict how much trouble is going to happen, no matter how honest we all try to be.

That’s because trust levels are fixed.

What fixes them? What causes this damage?

In Mother Nature’s world this damage doesn’t happen.

Only mankind does it.

All new life requires two things, and they aren’t negotiable.

The first thing.

Every new life already knows what it is trying to be. A baby chick will always be trying to become a chicken. A tulip bulb will always be trying to become a tulip.

People are no different. Who we are trying to grow into is already established at birth. Any pressure that others may use to move us into becoming something else, will only cause various amounts of damage.

That’s the first thing nature understands and supports, but mankind does not understand.

Now for the second.

All life is powered from inside. That staggering explosion of energy is pure self-esteem. Kids learn to walk and talk, an astonishing thing to manage. That energy is not going to end. It will be there for life. The only thing that can stop it is damage.

Obedience is not part of the natural world. It is man made. For the infant, it is the end of their powerful drive into life. They become forced to abandon their own inner power.

The results are not pretty. Confusion, anger, reduced trust, altered beliefs, defiance, hostility, psychosomatic disease, including allergies, hate, racism, atrocities, and the quest to be a powerful person are all results. People with damaged inner power will do anything to feel important, which is of course, the quality they lost.

None of it works though. There is no replacement for lost inner power.

Once again, this problem is entirely man made.

The good news is that the problems of our world are not as formidable as we thought.

They all have a common cause. Change one behavior, and everything begins to improve.

That’s a promise of hope. We haven’t had any of that for a long while.
