Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are reportedly getting a divorce
Famous power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, are reportedly getting a divorce after almost a decade of being married.
According to Page Six, “divorce is imminent” for the couple, with Kardashian having hired lawyer Laura Wasser to support her through the process.
The couple is believed to have spent the festive season apart, with Kardashian staying in Los Angeles and West going up to his ranch in Wyoming
“Kim got Kanye to go up there [Wyoming] so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She’s done,” a source told Page Six.
Meanwhile, another source from West’s side told the publication that West “is completely over the entire [Kardashian] family. He wants nothing to do with them.”
This report is coming after West stated that he had been “trying” to divorce Kim since 2018.
In July, the rapper tweeted: “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf [sic] for ‘prison reform,’” West was thought to have been referring to a criminal justice summit attended by Kardashian and the rapper Meek Mill in November 2018.
“Meek is my man and was respectful,” West added in a subsequent tweet. “That’s my dog Kim was out of line.”
Kim issued a statement commenting on West’s mental health.
Posting on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday (22 July), Kardashian wrote: “As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand.”
Kardashian went on to explain that those who understand mental illness “know that the family is powerless unless the person is a minor”, adding: “The individuals themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”
She added that West is a “brilliant but complicated person” and said “his words sometimes do not align with his intentions” and called on fans for their “empathy”.
West also referred to Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, as “Kris Jong-Un” and claimed that she and the rest of the clan were trying to force him into getting psychiatric treatment.
