The 3-Day Cardiac Diet provides strict food and meal composition guidelines.
Keep in mind that no substitutions or additional ingredients are permitted. Salt and pepper are allowed, but other seasonings, herbs, and spices aren’t.
You can drink black coffee or tea with breakfast, while diet soda is allowed in some variations of the diet.
Here is a sample meal plan for the 3-Day Cardiac Diet:
First day
Breakfast
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- Half a glass of juice or half a grapefruit
- 1 slice of toast
- 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
Lunch
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- half can of tuna
- 1 slice of toast
- 1 slice of cheddar cheese
Dinner
- 85 grams of lean meat
- 1 cup of string beans
- 1 cup of carrots and beets
- 1 small apple
- 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
Second Day
Breakfast
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- 1 egg
- 1 slice of toast
- half a banana
Lunch
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- 1 large slice of cottage cheese or half a can of tuna
- 5 saltine crackers
Dinner
- 2 beef sausages
- 1 cup kale or broccoli
- ½ cup of carrots or radishes
- half a banana
- Half a cup of vanilla ice cream
Third day
Breakfast
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- 5 saltine crackers
- 1 slice of cheddar cheese
- 1 small apple
Lunch
- Coffee or tea (without sugar)
- 1 fully cooked egg
- 1 slice of toast
Dinner
- A can of tuna
- 1 cup beans or cauliflower
- 1 cup of carrots or green beans
- 1 slice of melon
- Half a cup of vanilla ice cream.
Don’t forget to drink lots of water!
- Orange instead of grapefruit
- Tuna instead of cottage cheese
- Yogurt instead of ice cream
- dandelion instead of broccoli
- Green beans instead of broccoli or dandelions
- green beans instead of carrots
- You can use a slice of toast instead of crackers.
