‘Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder,’ is what we have been listening to. The question: How many people on earth are Beholders? A worldwide research has concluded that the genetically blessed earn 9% more. While the average woman juggles to find the right office wear, a symmetrical face can wear a paper bag to a board meeting and still manage to look ‘professional’! It goes like this: It’s better to be average but good looking rather than being very intelligent but unattractive.

While a not so pretty has to indulge in an effort to be appreciated, a beautiful face is equated with smart. Many men pin point that beautiful Women use their ‘looks’ to climb up the ladder. Is that true? What do you think?

   If beauty could be used as a parachute to reach the top, all the airhostesses would be heiress of the Multi National Companies. In retrospect, beautiful women have always been there, since centuries. Did they ever rise above beautiful secretaries, beautiful receptionists and mainly beautiful teachers at primary schools? A woman in the boardroom is a very recent phenomenon. A dazzling beauty helps one get attention but it isn’t talisman to get to the top. A female CEO doesn’t bite her lips seductively to get the contract passed. Wearing a padded bra and showing a glimpse of boobs doesn’t get a tender passed. Just as a beautiful girl child doesn’t secure first rank on her looks, a beautiful girl cannot climb up the ladder without any ‘potential’ in her.

Beauty does help women to get to the top. But wouldn’t they still need to be clever enough to ‘hold’ higher positions.

That a woman uses her flirting skills and sexuality to her advantage is a misconception. If it had been so, all the gorgeous hookers would be heading international companies. Yes, it is beauty that captures the attention, but it is personality that captures the heart. A woman whose smile is open and whose expression is glad has a kind of beauty power no matter how she looks.
