Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease. It is caused by bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis. It can infect both men and women. Women can get chlamydia in the cervix, rectum, or throat. Men can get chlamydia in the urethra (inside the penis), rectum, or throat. Chlamydia is more common in young people, especially young women. You are more likely to get it if you don’t consistently use a condom, or if you have multiple partners. Having an STI, including chlamydia, increases your risk of getting HIV. This is because most STIs cause sores or lesions that make it easier for HIV to enter the body.

-Chlamydia is usually found in infected semen of men  and vaginal fluids of women .

  • Painful  sex and/or bleeding after sex
  • Unexplained pain in the lower abdomen – especially when having sex
  • Heavier menstrual periods and bleeding between periods
  • Pain, discharge or bleeding in the anus (bottom).

  • a whitish, cloudy or watery discharge from the penis

A Man from  North Carolina once wrote : “When my wife was pregnant, she tested positive for chlamydia and was informed that I must have infected her. I knew I had been faithful and  never cheated on my wife, but this incident almost ruined our marriage. I decided to get tested to prove my innocence and the result indicated that I did not have the disease. We discovered that several of our pregnant friends also were wrongly diagnosed with chlamydia”.In addition, You cannot get infected with chlamydia from kissing or sharing things such as toilets or towels with someone who has the infection.
