You may not be aware that dry skin has several disadvantages. Since it lacks moisture and natural oils, it is more susceptible to premature aging and begins to wrinkle fairly early on. In addition, dry skin is usually very sensitive to traditional skin care products and harsh ingredients.
Furthermore, dry skin has two subtypes which often need to be treated separately. These subtypes include normal dry skin and extremely dry skin which cannot be treated with the same type of products.
Learn How to Take Care of Normal Dry Skin
First of all let's start with the appropriate dry skin routine. Soapy cleansers are not a good choice for dry skin especially considering that soap and water are known to strip both natural oils and moisture from your skin.
People with dry skin should use a Cream cleanser. Cream cleansers can help remove debris from your skin without leaving it dry. Follow up with an alcohol free toner to refresh the skin.
Your dry skin care should be rounded off with a good moisturizing cream that should be reapplied as many times as you need it during the day. Don't forget to exfoliate once every week with exfoliating creams or homemade mixtures based on grapefruit juice and oatmeal.
How to Take Care of Very Dry Skin
People with very dry skin, will notice that their skin still feels tight and itchy after performing the previously mentioned cleansing routine. If this is your case then you should switch over to oils, not oil-based products, but actual oil. Olive Oil and rose hip oil are excellent products for very dry skin.
Trade your cream cleanser for olive oil. Lather your skin with the oil. Once you let it set a minute or two use a warm towel to moisten your face. Let it set and cool on your face and then gently remove the towel along with the oil.
Immediately after wiping off the oil, apply a creamy moisturizer or rose hip seed oil. This product will be absorbed quickly into your skin locking in moisture. This is all you'll need to do if you want to keep your very dry skin under control.
To exfoliate this type of dry skin, try using milk. Keep in mind that this method can be shocking when you first use it even though milk is a frequently used natural product for dry skin. However, be sure to moisturize immediately after having exfoliated because milk will tighten your skin abruptly.
It may not be easy to find the right natural skin care productsbut with a little trial and error it will be well worth the effort.
