Who is Abby Miller?

Abby Lee Miller is an American dancer and choreographer who was born in 1966 in the USA. She is the owner and director. In 2016, she pleaded guilty to bankruptcy fraud and ended up in prison for one year and one day.

Miller was born in Pittsburgh. She grew around a dancer mom who directed her in her passion. Her mom had a dance studio, which was passed to Miller. This young woman was in a reality show called dancing moms that started showing in 2011. She featured in the show for seven seasons in a row. Miller was also a guest judge on Dancing with the stars.

In 2010, Abby filed for bankruptcy for an amount more than 400,000$ in taxes. Since 2014, she started encountering many legal issues.

Miller always had a weight problem. Then, suddenly she dropped from a size 24 to a size 16. She succeeded in her weight loss regimen even though she did not follow a strict Diet, a rough exercising regimen, or surgery.

She was not planning on losing weight. It just happened after so many unfortunate events occurring in her life including her mother getting sick. She kept going in and out of the hospital and this place offered the worst Food ever!

Following this stage of eating terrible food; and, after her mom’s passing, she moved to Los Angeles where the studio had no air conditioning. So, everyone had to endure extreme heat; and, as s result, they were not in the mood of eating much.

From another angle, Miller was diagnosed with diabetes and ended up being on diabetes medications.

She then had to travel to Australia and ended up running out of he diabetes pills. She had to buy them from Australia, and these pills seemed to be different and ended up making her sick. She was vomiting daily.

Following all these unfortunate events, Miller ended up losing weight. She laughs that this is the most unconventional way to losing weight. But, that’s how she got here with her size 16!

Following this sudden weird weight loss, Miller undergoes weight loss surgery, in 2016. This time she was ready to lose weight and in a very conventional way. She went for the sleeve surgery and ended up documenting the operation. Despite her worries and fear, she went for it courageously despite all the stress in her life and her fears of facing jail time.

In 2017, Abby went to prison where she is still behind bars.

In prison, Miller has a wide range of food options including:

  • scrambled eggs
  • peanut Butter
  • Biscuits
  • whole wheat bread
  • Jelly
  • Roast Beef
  • Black-eyed peas
  • Steamed Rice
  • Green beans
  • Beef and Tacos
  • Veggies soup
  • Chicken salad wraps

Abby Lee’s life after Surgery

When Miller underwent the Sleeve surgery, her stomach was reduced by 80%. So, her tummy changed from the size of a football to the size of a banana. The operation took only 45 minutes and was performed by Dr. Michael Russo. Following the surgery, she was in pain and was feeling uncomfortable. She had to be on a full liquid diet for three weeks. She was laughing about her liquid intake as she joked that she will buy a shot glass and fills it with her food and takes them in as shots. That was going to be her game over the three weeks post-surgery.

Miller was very open about her weight issues and wanted to open up about all her problems regarding her weight loss journey. She wanted to let the world know about weight loss and how much of a hassle it can be.  This idea was not new to the media. Before her, Mama June documented her weight loss journey and massive transformation.

Miller talks about how her seven seasons on TV affected her life. She stated that when you are in such a reality show, you will no longer be in charge of your life. You will be told what to do, what to eat, where to go, what to dress.  Now that she is off the show and after her surgery, she finally started feeling more in control of her life and eating habits.

Weight Loss Regimen

Being a celebrity and especially a reality TV star can put you under a lot of stress. When you are a person struggling with your weight, the struggle becomes aggravated with all the attention focusing on you and criticizing your extra pounds. Take for example the Kardashians, how many times have they been criticized over a judgment, a dress, a small weight gain, a bad hairdo! It can be insane how people will start staring and judging. When you are a dancer like Abby, it can be worst. I mean, when you say dancer, you imagine a very fit woman who is well built and maybe with muscles. The last thing you would expect a 24 size woman who just doesn’t care about her looks. And what is striking is that she never asked herself “how many calories should I eat to lose weight.” Her weight loss journey was a result of many issues.

While Abby’s weight loss journey was a little sad and very unconventional; she carried it on with a surgery and then a limited diet in prison. Abby was not the first celebrity to make changes to her weight while in prison. Gucci Mane was also a very famous rapper who was a dealer and living an extremely unhealthy lifestyle. While in prison, he decided to make a twist to his life and ended up losing a lot of weight by removing carbs from his lifestyle. Away from prison, another star shows off her weight loss style: Rebel Wilson’s weight loss style has been an inspiration to many.

So many other celebrities have been on numerous weight loss regimens. Some went for FDA approved pills. Such pills work on either suppressing appetite and making you feel full for a more extended period, suppressing fat by preventing it’s breaking down and absorption, or finally increase your metabolic rate. Not many celebrities were on such pills.

Finally, a lot of them went on a high protein diet. This system usually involved adding to it high fat and low carbs. It induces ketosis. Our body uses its energy from two different sources: carbs and fat. Carbs are usually the primary source of energy, and then comes the fat. When you deprive your body of carbs; and, it usually takes three days to do it, your body starts using fat for energy. When you eat a diet low in fat, your body will utilize your body stores for energy. When you have a high-fat diet; then, your body will use both the fat stored and the food ingested for energy.

For those suffering from high blood pressure, following any weight-loss regimen is not advised! It’s preferred to follow a diet plan for high blood pressure. Such diets are low in sodium, phosphorus, and potassium. You will be advised to limit these foods and drink a reasonable amount of water.  For those having high blood glucose levels, a diabetic food list would make a lot of sense and it will prevent the spikes in blood sugar levels. When you want to lose weight to look right, you can afford to pick any system; however, if you have any health condition, then you have to make sure you are addressing this issue and not aggravating it by picking the wrong food choices. Life is full of choices. Which choice you decide to make changes your reality. Make sure you make the wise ones
