Leveraging their expertise in LCD technology, LG previews new products at RSNA16
Orange County, CA - December 1st 2016 - LG Electronics Usa Business Solutions is entering the medical imaging technology market and presenting three new devices at the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA 2016). Two new monitors and a new radiography device are being previewed at the conference offering high resolution images in multiple hospital settings. LG hopes to use their experience with advanced flat panel display technology to provide physicians with nonpareil tools for crucial decisions.
“LG is diving head-first into the U.S. medical imaging device market with advanced display technologies designed to improve the accuracy, quality, and efficiency of diagnostic procedures,” said Kimun Paik, senior vice president of LG Electronics Usa Business Solutions in a press release.
The LG 8MP Clinical Review Monitor is designed for efficiency; streamlining work flow and multitasking. The 27-inch in-plane switching (IPS) monitor delivers 3840 x 2160 pixels, or 4K resolution, with enhanced brightness levels and backlight stabilization to maintain luminance level consistently. The monitor also provides healthcare professionals with wide viewing angles and minimal color shift for distinct imagery. Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) compliant, the display is carefully calibrated for consistency across devices. Its Dynamic Sync Mode reduces input lag, while modes like Flicker Safe and Reader Mode lessen the effect of asthenopia on the eyes of staff during long shifts.
The second monitor revealed, the LG 8MP Surgical Monitor, is a 27-inch display designed for a multitude of applications in the operating room, focusing on the need for precise observations. The purity of the image the LG 8MP UHD panel creates is unmatched and helps surgeons with execution of intricate procedures. The monitor’s IPS allows for viewing at varying angles without a significant color shift and with brightness levels up to 800 nits, the monitor is fortified for the lighting conditions of an operating room. For visual distinction of different types of tissue and blood vessels, the sRBG color space was enhanced with adherence to the deep red spectrum.
The final announcement is the LG Digitalized X-Ray Detector for Radiography, available in 2017. Keeping in mind the need for lightweight, mobile, and reliable medical machinery in healthcare facilities, LG designed their DXD (digitalized X-ray detector). Using 16-bit image processing capabilities, the DXD produces superior images in seconds. With a pixel range of 127 micrometers, these high resolution images are enabling radiographers and radiologists to pinpoint health issues with meticulous precision and speed.
