Turkey and Beef Stuffed Cabbage – Health Essentials from Cleveland Clinic

Ingredients

1 head of cabbage
½ pound  lean flooring red meat
½ pound flooring turkey
1 small onion, minced
1 slice stale entire wheat bread, crumbled
1 tablespoon lemon juice
¼ cup water
1/eight teaspoon black pepper
1 can (16 oz.) diced tomatoes
1 small onion, sliced
1 cup water
1 medium carrot, sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Directions

  1. Rinse and core cabbage. Carefully take away 10 outer leaves, position in saucepan and duvet with boiling water. Simmer five mins. Remove and drain cooked cabbage leaves on paper toweling.
  2. Shred ½ cup of uncooked cabbage and put aside.
  3. Brown flooring red meat and turkey, and minced onion in skillet. Drain fats.
  4. Place cooked and tired meat combination, bread crumbs, water and pepper in blending bowl.
  5. Drain tomatoes, booking liquid, and upload ½ cup tomato juice from can to meat combination. Mix neatly; then position ¼ cup filling on each and every parboiled, tired cabbage leaf. Place folded facet down in skillet.
  6. Add tomatoes, sliced onion, water, shredded cabbage, and carrot. Cover and simmer about 1 hour (or till cabbage is gentle), basting infrequently.
  7. Remove cabbage rolls to serving platter, and stay heat.
  8. Mix lemon juice, brown sugar and cornstarch and cook dinner, stirring infrequently, till thickened and transparent. Serve over cabbage rolls.
