This fungus mainly affects skin of genitals, inner thighs, groin area and buttocks. This fungus mainly grows in warm and moist part of the body. Jock itch is also known as tinea cruis. It causes a lot of discomfort but is not a serious infection. It is more common in men than in women. Overweight and profusely sweating people can also get infected.

The fungus that is responsible for jock itch infections which is also one of the most common types of fungal infections and belongs to a group of fungi known as dermatophytes. These fungi are responsible for a variety of common infections like ringworm, athlete’s foot, toenail fungus and so on. Dermatophytes thrive in warm and moist environments, which does explain the susceptibility of specific areas of the body to such fungal infections. The most commonly affected parts of the body therefore are the feet and groin. While conditions like athlete’s foot affect the feet, the groins are afflicted with fungal infections like jock itch.

CAUSES OF JOCK ITCH
For those who are not too aware how jock itch came about, here are just some of the possible reasons for getting it:

Excessive Sweating
Obesity/Being Overweight
Tight Clothing
Weak Immune System
Usually, those who experience the causes mentioned above will develop jock itch later on. How will people know if they already have jock itch? How will you know if you already have this condition? Here are a few symptoms to watch out for:

Effective Home Remedies for Jock Itch

1. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil has natural antifungal properties that can effectively treat jock itch along with other types of skin infections. It also has deep cleansing and stimulating elements along with a powerful antibacterial quality. It will also help alleviate itchiness and inflammation associated with jock itch.

Use a cotton ball to apply tea tree oil to the affected skin twice daily. Continue for a few days until the symptoms disappear completely. If it causes a lot of burning sensation then you can use mix four or five drops of tea tree oil in one tablespoon of coconut oil and then use it.
Another option is to add a few drops of tea tree oil to your bath water and soak in it for about 15 minutes.
You can also use soap or shower gel containing tea tree oil.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar
Washing the infected skin with diluted apple cider vinegar is a great way to deal with jock itch. Apple cider vinegar has strong antifungal and antibacterial properties to cure and control various skin infections.

Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in two cups of warm water.
Wash the infected area with this solution and allow it to dry on its own.
Repeat this process two or three times daily, especially before going to bed.

3. Alcohol
Alcohol helps kill fungi that causes jock itch and keeps the skin around the groin dry. Use alcohol that is 90% isopropyl. Dab a cotton ball in the alcohol and apply on the affected area. Alcohol evaporates immediately, so you do not have to wash it off. Do this 4 to 5 times in a day until the itch subsides.

4. White Vinegar
If you think that only apple cider vinegar is amazing against jock itch, you should know that white vinegar can also be used for a certain effect. White vinegar contains anti fungal properties that can help get rid of the bacteria causing the infection.

Mix a cup of vinegar with about 4 cups of water.
Use a piece of clean cloth and dip it on the solution that you have created.
Place the cloth that you have dipped in water and vinegar on the affected area. Use the cloth to wipe off the bacteria and leave it to dry.
Do this 2 – 3 times a day everyday for the best results.

5. Bleach
Bleach has three-in-one properties and is ideal for treating jock itch. Fill a bath tub with water and add ¼ cup of bleach to it. Now soak your body in the water for 15 minutes. Do this every day or on every alternate day. The itch will subside quickly. Do not forget to wash your body with regular water afterwards.

6. Get Rid of Jock Itch In Women With Listerine
At this point you may be wondering why there is a need for Listerine when it is commonly being used for cleaning the mouth. Do remember that the reason why it is effective is because it cleans off the bacteria and fungi. This means that it can also be effective in getting rid of the bacteria and fungi causing the jock itch on the skin.

Again using a clean cotton ball, place an ample amount of Listerine on the cotton ball and apply it on the affected area.
Leave it on and do not wash it off. Do this for about two to three times a day for relief.

Wear loose cotton clothes. You can use silica to keep the damp body area dry.
